Recognising the need for a technical forum to share information and coordinate control strategies for high-impact TADs, the East Asia CVO Forum was established in 2016, among China (People Republic of), Japan, Korea (Republic of), Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong SAR and Mongolia, as a platform for regular exchange of information and discussions on animal health issues within this geographic sub-region.
The activities implemented since the establishment of the forum in 2016 were reviewed at the East Asia CVO and Contact Persons Meeting on PPR and LSD, held in Qingdao, China in 2023. The meeting emphasised the importance of ensuring continuing regular communication among the Delegates and CVOs, including the sharing of information on TADs events.
Given the crucial importance of strengthening cooperation in East Asia to enhance regional preparedness and resilience against TADs, China PR, Japan, and Korea RO expressed strong interests in supporting this workshop aimed at sharing information on TADs control and strengthening regional collaboration in East Asia through their respective voluntary contribution to WOAH. They also underline the importance of collaboration from the experience of their Trilateral Cooperation on Response against Transboundary Animal Diseases.
In this context, WOAH RRAP will organise the East Asia Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) Meeting and Sub-Regional Workshop on Controlling Transboundary Animal Diseases in East Asia from 22 to 23 July 2025.
Taking this opportunity, the East Asia CVO Forum Members will share updates on One Health and other relevant topics as well.
