International horse movement

Introduction

Great numbers of horses are temporarily transported to and from Member states of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH, founded as OIE) to participate in international equestrian events and races. It is necessary to mitigate the risk of disease spread affecting animals and humans in the context of these movements while avoiding unjustified sanitary barriers.

The Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific of the World Organisation for Animal Health has started a series of initiatives in support of the “International Horse Movement” in the Asia and Pacific region. This page compiles all the relevant information and WOAH recommendations and material on the international horse movement in the Asia and Pacific region. In the Asia Pacific region, we support members to collaborate with local key stakeholders to facilitate International Horse Movement.
