Quarterly Reports Supporting Early Detection, Situational Awareness, and Preparedness

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) has published the latest Animal Health Epidemic Intelligence Report – Asia and the Pacific (Q2 2026), providing a comprehensive overview of animal disease events and emerging threats detected across the region between April and June 2026. This edition is the latest in an ongoing series of quarterly reports, which first launched in Q3 2025.

Produced under WOAH’s Epidemic Intelligence in Asia-Pacific initiative, the report supports early detection, situational awareness, and preparedness by synthesising official notifications with relevant information identified from open sources. The broader initiative aims to strengthen early threat warning systems and improve animal disease reporting across the region.

By combining official disease data reported through WAHIS with intelligence gathered via WOAH’s active search activities, the reports provide Veterinary Services, animal health authorities, and other stakeholders with a regular snapshot of the regional animal health landscape. Highlighting significant disease events and trends helps Members strengthen their preparedness, supports risk-based decision-making, and enhances regional awareness of emerging threats.

To achieve this, WOAH’s Active Search Team Asia-Pacific reviews open-source information and collaborates closely with Members in the region to verify significant disease signals. This approach complements official reporting mechanisms, ultimately contributing to a much stronger regional early warning network.
