New Awareness Communication Materials on Foot and Mouth Disease

Header

20 Dec 2022 (Thailand) Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious, viral disease which can spread rapidly from one animal to another. Although it is rarely fatal in adult animals, it causes serious production losses and is a major constraint on international trade. FMD is not readily transmissible to humans and is not a public health risk.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Sub-Regional Representation for Southeast Asia has developed six new digital materials to raise awareness among key stakeholders such as traders, veterinarians, veterinary paraprofessionals and farming communities. The materials provide practical recommendations and guidance for preventing the spread of FMD from one animal to another.
