INTRODUCTION

Diseases included in this report are diseases notifiable to the World Organisation of Animal Health (WOAH, founded as OIE) and non WOAH-listed diseases which are considered to be of importance in the region.

It is useful to know the epidemiology of diseases which occurred in each country or territory and to know the distribution of such diseases in the region. This information is also included in the Quarterly Aquatic Animal Disease Report and the Regional Aquatic Animal Disease Yearbook published by the Regional Representation.

Aquaculture is still the fastest growing food-producing sector in the world. The Asia and Pacific region has dominated global aquaculture production, both in quantity and value. However, disease is still the major threat to production. To guarantee transparency of the regional aquatic animal health situation, WOAH Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific (RRAP)  and Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) jointly published the Regional Aquatic Animal Disease Report to provides information about the status of aquatic animal disease in the Asia-Pacific region.
