Paris (France), 10 May 2022 – The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH, founded as OIE) held the 89th Annual General Session of the World Assembly of Delegates on Monday, 23 May to Thursday, 26 May 2022. Every year, the General Session brings together all representatives of Member countries and territories to discuss, refine and adopt international standards for animal health, discuss the world animal health situation, and review forthcoming activities of the Organisation.
The 89th General Session included the adoption of administrative and technical resolutions as well as elections for vacancies in some of the governing bodies of the Organisation.
The event was held with a daily plenary session from 12:00 to 16:30 PM CEST (Central European Summer Time) and was conducted in a semi-hybrid format. This meant main speakers will be at the event venue in Paris while Members’ delegations and partners attended remotely.
On Thursday 26 May, during the first administrative session (reserved for permanent and alternate Delegates), the following elections took place:
A remote voting system was deployed for Delegates and alternate Delegates to cast their vote electronically during the election section.
With the exception of the administrative session reserved for elections, all daily sessions of the General Session were webcasted live via the General Session website.

Members and International and Regional Organisations with an agreement with WOAH were contacted by the General Session Secretariat Team (SG Secretariat) to complete their registration for the 89th General Session.
