The OIE strongly encourages its Members to nominate 8 National Focal Points to support National OIE Delegates in performing their rights and obligations, to actively participate in the OIE standard setting process. OIE organises regular seminars for each category of National Focal Points as part of its Global Capacity Building Programme.
This seminar invited Animal Welfare Focal Points from the Asia and the Pacific region. It has been several years since the last regional animal welfare focal point seminar and in this time there have been several key updates with the development of the OIE Global animal welfare strategy, several new chapters relating to animal welfare in the Terrestrial Animal Health Code and additional chapters currently under consideration.
