Kick-off Workshop for Nature for Health Project in Mongolia

Mongolia was selected as one of six recipient countries for the Nature for Health (N4H) Initiative. A kick-off workshop was held for the project in Ulaanbaatar in December 2023. This started the Scoping Phase of the project, during which participants will develop activities for the Implementation Phase.

The N4H application was prepared by Mongolia in October 2022 after the WOAH-CIC Workshop on Wildlife Disease Surveillance in Mongolia, and was endorsed by three ministries: Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry (MoFALI), and Ministry of Nature, Environment and Tourism (MNET). WOAH was appointed by the N4H Secretariat as lead implementing agency of the project in Mongolia, and organised the hybrid “Kick-off Workshop for Nature for Health Project in Mongolia” in association with GAVS in December 2023. There were n.57 participants, representing animal health, environment, human health, and One Health sectors.

The workshop content included a mixture of plenary presentations, group work, and question and answer discussion. Follow-up workshops in early 2024 will further work on developing activities to be implemented during the project.
