The WOAH Pacific Wildlife Health Network (PWHN) held its 6th meeting on the 16th July 2024. The meeting was attended by representatives from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Tuvalu, SPC and WOAH.
The meeting focused on the topic of Communication of Disease Risk Posed by Wildlife, selected by members of the network. The meeting featured two experts in this field who were invited to deliver presentations:

The information exchange and discussion from participants noted the importance of strong communication strategies and relationships to managing disease risks posed by wildlife and highlighted some of the challenges and solutions presented in implementing these frameworks.
The 7th meeting for the PWHN will be scheduled later in 2024 with a topic chosen from ideas previously put forward by participants.

Dr Tania Areori, from National Agriculture and Quarantine Inspection Authority (NAQIA) gave the second presentation titled "Wildlife Disease Risk Analysis (WDRA) and the role of wildlife in One Health and biosecurity".
