The WOAH Regional Workshop for Avian Disease Prevention and Control in Asia and the Pacific 2026 was held in Harbin, China (P.R.) from 24 to 26 August 2026. Organised by the WOAH Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific (RRAP) in collaboration with the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute (HVRI), the workshop brought together representatives of WOAH Members, Regional Reference Laboratories, and international experts to strengthen regional cooperation on avian disease prevention and control.
Aligned with the Global Strategy for the Prevention and Control of High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) 2024–2033, the workshop provided a platform to review the regional avian disease situation, discuss advances in diagnostics and surveillance, and exchange experiences on prevention, preparedness, and control measures for avian influenza and other priority avian diseases. Participants also identifed priorities and collaborative actions to further strengthen regional capacities and coordination across Asia and the Pacific.
The workshop contributed to enhanced regional preparedness, improved disease surveillance and reporting, and the development of updated regional and sub-regional action plans for avian disease prevention and control.
