The 25th Meeting of the OIE Sub-Commission of the South East Asia and China Foot and Mouth Disease (SEACFMD) campaign was held virtually (Zoom) on 15 December 2020. The meeting was attended by 40 participants from nine SEACFMD Member Countries (OIE Delegates or their authorized Representatives and National Coordinators) and from partner organisations such as FAO, ASEAN Secretariat, OIE Reference Laboratories, donor countries) and the OIE (OIE-HQ, RR Tokyo and SRR Bangkok).
Dr Monique Eloit, Director General of the OIE and Dr Pham Van Dong, President of the Sub-Commission opened the meeting. Following the opening address, the OIE Delegates of the SEACFMD Countries (or their representatives) made short statements about their country’s FMD situation.
The 25th OIE SEACFMD Sub-Commission Meeting reviewed and endorsed the SEACFMD roadmap 2021-2025, and accepted the progression of Laos and Myanmar from FMD-PCP Stage 1 to FMD-PCP Stage 2. The meeting also served as a platform for members to receive updates on the regional and global FMD situation.
