SEACFMD’s Laboratory Network (LabNet) aims to improve the laboratory capacity of Member Countries, including to facilitate rapid detection of FMD virus serotypes, support vaccine strain selection and post-vaccination monitoring, and strengthen a regional network of diagnosticians to share experience and expertise. The 2019 SEACFMD LabNet meeting was held on November 4-5, in Pakchong, Thailand. The meeting aimed to:
- Update LabNet members on:

- The global and regional FMD situation
- Laboratory activities related to FMD over the last 2 years
- Recommendations from the two Regional Expert Group (REG) Meetings on FMD held in May and October 2019
- Research activities and findings from Member Countries and partner institutes
- Develop an implementation plan on REG’s recommendations on sampling, virus diagnosis and serology
- Identify the gaps in advancing laboratory diagnosis and research and possible solutions
- Facilitate networking between the SEACFMD members and partner institutions and encourage sharing of experience, expertise and uptake of new technologies.
