WOAH is seeking several expert consultants to support its expanding work on biological threat reduction and emergency preparedness.
The role will help strengthen global capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to biological threats—whether deliberate, accidental, or naturally occurring. Responsibilities include:
- Contribute to scoping studies that map the biothreat landscape, analysing key actors, coordination mechanisms, national and regional governance, and the capabilities of Veterinary Services and laboratories. This work will identify gaps and opportunities and provide evidence‑based recommendations.
- Support the operationalisation of WOAH standards and tools to ensure long‑term adoption of best practices in biothreat reduction, emergency preparedness, and response.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops and meetings, prepare technical materials, and produce high‑quality reports and guidance.
- Includes work on contingency planning, biological risk management along the pathogen value chain, and management of high‑consequence agents and toxins.
- Monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge generation will be key components of the role, including developing M&E strategies, producing consolidated progress reports, producing scientific materials, and contributing to surveys and assessments.
