OIE Collaborating Centre for Diagnostic Test Validation Science in the Asia-Pacific Region – CSIRO Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness in Australia, Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences, The University of Melbourne in Australia and EpiCentre, School of Veterinary Sciences, Massey University in New Zealand, organised Interpretation and Validation of Diagnostic Tests in Veterinary Science in Victoria, Australia from 18-22 March 2019.
Course topics were
- Epidemiological and statistical issues related to validation of tests;
- Application of tests for screening, diagnosis and surveillance including use of multiple tests;
- Validation strategies that consider individual animal and herd diagnosis, allowing for the presence or absence of a perfect reference (gold) standard including hands-on methodology of latent class test evaluation when a gold standard is not available; and
- Principles of quality control and quality assurance to monitor assay validity including aspects of measurement uncertainty.
Learning materials, including ppt presentations, practice exercises and software information which you need to take the lessons were kindly shared by them.
They should be very useful and helpful not only for researchers who wish to strengthen their capacities, but also for other RCs that plan to create teaching materials as a successful example of e-learning materials.
