The WOAH Wildlife Health Management Framework highlights the need for multi-sectoral collaboration between Veterinary Services, wildlife authorities, and environmental professionals to improve wildlife management and conservation. This “One Health” approach ensures a sustainable future for wildlife, ecosystems, humans, and domestic animals.
The 2024 South-East Asia Wildlife Network meeting was organised on 17 September. WOAH’s wildlife health activities and the Network’s operations were updated, with results from a wildlife health systems assessment across SEA and country profiles for nine Members shared. Group activities led to the creation of a wildlife health roadmap. A model for Thailand’s National Wildlife Health Network was introduced, followed by stakeholder mapping activities for setting up networks in each country. Discussions focused on the Network’s TOR, covering communication, frequency, and roles.
On 18 September 2024, a special session on “Integrating Wildlife Health and Environmental Conservation in “One Health” was held during the SEAOHUN Conference (40 participants), addressing disease surveillance, conservation, and transboundary emerging diseases.
