Since 2017, the Department of Livestock Development DLD Thailand has been implemented an antimicrobial resistance (AMR) plan and continuously developed the laboratory’s capacity. However, most Regional veterinary laboratories of Thailand or Veterinary Research and Development Centers (VRDCs) still need to be strengthened and fill some gaps.
To strengthen and expand the VRDCs and labs network capacity for AMR surveillance sustainability, DLD participates in the project “Regional Tripartite AMR Project with EU” coordinated by FAO-WOAH-WHO.
Therefore, “Workshop on National AMR Surveillance in Livestock in Thailand: Strengthening Capacities and Laboratory Network” was set up for 10 laboratories (2 National labs and 8 VRDCs) including Animal Feed and Veterinary Products Control (AFVC). This workshop aims to enhance the network and identify challenges and gaps within each laboratory, while also providing recommendations and a roadmap for the future of AMR surveillance laboratories in the livestock sector of Thailand.
