Regional Workshop on TRUVET for Asia and the Pacific

3–4 and 5– 6 November 2026, Manila, Philippines

Fighting substandard and falsified veterinary products that deliberately or fraudulently misrepresent their identity, composition, or source. Substandard veterinary products are authorised products that fail to meet their quality standards, specifications, or both.

Following the successful 1st Workshop on Substandard and Falsified Veterinary Products (SFVP) and the launch of the WOAH pilot Veterinary Monitoring & Surveillance System for SFVP (WOAH–VSAFE) in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2024, a significant number of WOAH Members formally joined the pilot initiative.

Building on the achievements of the VSAFE pilot and in accordance with the sixth recommendation of Resolution No. 29 adopted during the 92nd WOAH General Session, WOAH officially launched and deployed TRUVET (Track and Report Unsafe Veterinary Products) in 2026.

TRUVET is the first global and long-term monitoring and surveillance platform dedicated to substandard and falsified veterinary products. The system aims to generate evidence-based information on the occurrence of SFVPs worldwide, strengthen surveillance activities, and enhance Members’ capacity to detect, investigate, and eliminate unsafe veterinary products.

While TRUVET builds upon the principles established under VSAFE, the new platform introduces enhanced functionalities and expanded user access levels. It provides a more inclusive, non-judgemental, and efficient environment for reporting incidents of substandard and falsified veterinary products. In addition, the system supports Members in documentation, data analysis, evidence generation, risk assessment, and informed decision-making related to post-marketing surveillance and enforcement actions at national, regional, and global levels.

Objectives

The workshop aims to:

  • Introduce the newly developed TRUVET system.
  • Present and discuss key findings and lessons learned from the VSAFE pilot phase.
  • Provide hands-on exercises and practical training on the use of TRUVET.
  • Demonstrate how the system can support risk analysis, response planning, decision-making, and awareness campaigns on the risks associated with SFVPs.
  • Encourage stronger collaboration between WOAH National Focal Points for Veterinary Products and national regulatory authorities responsible for veterinary medicinal products.
