WOAH joins forces with regional veterinary schools to enhance education and preparedness

WOAH will actively participate in the upcoming International Conference of Advanced Veterinary Science and Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICAVESS), held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and online via Zoom from 6–8 November 2025, hosted by Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). This year’s conference will also host the annual meetings of the Asian Association of Veterinary Schools (AAVS) and the Southeast Asian Veterinary School Association (SEAVSA).

Why VetEd Asia 2025 Matters:

Veterinary education plays a critical role in ensuring a competent workforce that meets the evolving demands of animal health services. WOAH supports Veterinary Educational Establishments (VEEs) and Veterinary Statutory Bodies (VSBs) through competency guidelines, curriculum development, and training platforms. In Asia, WOAH’s regional offices (RRAP and SRR-SEA) collaborate with AAVS and SEAVSA to:

  • Promote WOAH resources and tools
  • Encourage sharing of best practices
  • Build networks among veterinary educators

During VetEd Asia 2025, to be organised in collaboration with AAVS, SEAVSA, and their member institutions, the following key topics will be highlighted:

  • Enhancing education on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and antimicrobial use (AMU)
  • Promoting the role of VEEs in disaster response and preparedness
  • Advancing research in veterinary education
