The world faces the need to critically curb and adapt to climate change and to adopt digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, in animal production systems. The WOAH encourages collaborations among the WOAH Collaborating Centres (CCs) of the same expertise and beyond to increase capacity to support the health of animals, humans and the environment.
This workshop was proposed by the WOAH Collaborating Centre for Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health, co-led by the China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center and Massey University’s EpiCentre and mEpiLab. It was also proposed by the WOAH Collaborating Centre for Food Safety, led by the National Center for Food Science, Singapore, in collaboration with the Research Center for Food Safety, University of Tokyo, and the School of Veterinary Medicine, Rakuno Gakuen University.
The workshop addressed emerging topics related to climate change and digital technologies in safe animal production and food safety, aligning with the mandates of Collaborating Centres and the needs of WOAH Members. Presenters were drawn from the contributing Collaborating Centres and partner institutions.
The workshop consisted of two parts: Part I – presentations from experts, which was open for Veterinary Service staff, academia, students and other stakeholders, and Part II – a closed workshop for the WOAH Delegates, Focal Points and other government officers responsible for epidemiology and food safety in WOAH Members of Asia and Pacific.
