Glanders webinar

Glanders: an infectious and life-threatening disease

The Regional Representation for Asia and the Pacific office organised a webinar on the infectious disease caused by infection with the bacterium Burkholderia mallei, glanders, in the larger context of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) regional project on International Horse Movement in Asia and the Pacific.

The objectives of the webinar included:

• Share the Terrestrial Animal Health Code chapter on glanders
• Update on the glanders epidemiology situation in the world
• Share the WOAH Members’ national control programme for glanders
• Address concerns about Melioidosis

Speakers included experts from WOAH, WOAH Reference Laboratories in France, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
