The South-East Asia, China and Mongolia Foot and Mouth Disease (SEACFMD) Campaign is a regionally coordinated programme to combat foot and mouth disease (FMD) in South-East Asia, China, and Mongolia. Initiated in 1997, the SEACFMD campaign is being implemented in a five-year phased manner under the guidance of the SEACFMD Roadmaps.
The SEACFMD Roadmap is a guidance document consistent with the OIE/FAO Global Foot and Mouth Disease Control Strategy, that outlines the activities, resources, and political commitment required to control, prevent and eventually, eradicate FMD from the SEACFMD Members.
The SEACFMD campaign enters its 6th phase of implementation under the guidance of the SEACFMD Roadmap 2021–2025. This Roadmap provides a strategic framework and direction for countries to base the implementation of their national FMD plans on science, while taking account of achievements and lessons learnt from previous phases. Phase 6 of the SEACFMD Campaign aims to reinvigorate FMD prevention and control efforts in SEACFMD member countries. In addition, during this phase, the future direction of the Campaign will be explored, based on a comprehensive assessment of the results attained and constraints encountered since its inception.
The 4th and latest edition of the SEACFMD Roadmap (for 2021–2025) is a guidance document that provides a strategic framework and direction to control and prevent FMD in South-East Asia and China.
This strategy document will inform project planning for the next phase of the Campaign and will be used as the basis for the development of annual work plans by governments in accordance with their respective national contexts. Drawing on the successes and lessons learnt from previous phases of the Campaign, the objectives of this 6th phase are to improve FMD control in SEACFMD member countries, evaluate the outcomes achieved to date, and develop a formal process for monitoring the SEACFMD Campaign as it moves forward.
This 3rd Edition of the SEACFMD Roadmap is a guidance document consistent with the OIE/FAO Global FMD Control Strategy, that outlines the activities, resources and political commitment required to control, prevent and, eventually, eradicate FMD in South-East Asia and China. The document builds upon the successes of the previous four phases of the SEACFMD Campaign with the introduction of Phase 5 (2016-2020), which provides strategic direction to achieve significant reductions in FMD in the region by 2020 while at the same time protecting free countries and zones.
The 2nd edition of the SEACFMD Roadmap (2011-2015) provides a broad strategic framework and direction to achieve FMD freedom with vaccination by the year 2020 and maintain FMD freedom in countries and zones that have attained FMD-free status.
The 1st edition of the roadmap, the South‐East Asia Foot and Mouth Disease Campaign 2020 (SEAFMD 2020) document, provides a long‐term strategic framework and a roadmap to provide guidance in achieving foot and mouth disease (FMD) freedom with vaccination in South‐East Asia by 2020. This roadmap is based on the significant progress of the SEAFMD campaign since it was launched in 1997.
