Follow up to the Advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) virtual training course organised by OIE Sub Regional Representation for South-East Asia in partnership with the Epicentre, Massey University (MU), New Zealand during 27 July – 30 August 2021. Members of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH, founded as OIE) participated in an Advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) virtual training follow up sessions during 3 -12 May 2022 to improve animal disease surveillance and control capacity via GIS tools.  The training course was organised by the WOAH Sub Regional Representation for South-East Asia in partnership with The EpiCentre, Massey University, New Zealand

The participants studies newly developed interactive learning modules on QGIS techniques, Spatial Risk Assessment and Cluster Analysis through Massey University’s online Moodle platform (stream) and group training using Zoom sessions.

The objective of the training were:

  • to introduce the updated contents on (i) QGIS techniques, (ii) Spatial Risk Assessment (SRA), (iii) Spatial cluster detection
  • to explore the interest for providing guidance and mentorship to the SRA Country Projects.
